What's included in each trip?

The daily rate is all inclusive of guiding, transport by Licensed 4WD, lunches, Access and Concession fees, waders and tackle if required, and a complimentary Photo CD of the days fishing. Licenses are not included. Extended or overnight fishing itineraries are all inclusive of guiding, transport, all meals, accommodation, access and concession fees, waders and tackle if required. Licenses and alcoholic beverages are not included.

What happens if the weather's bad?

We operate in most weather conditions as our location allows to find fishable conditions somewhere within our region. However there may be occasions when the weather will dictate a change of fishing method or location. If you have chosen to join us for one of our overnight or extended fishing packages we will choose our direction of travel and locations to take the best advantage of the weather during your stay.

How fit do I need to be?

We are able to cater for any standard of fitness, but for the remote headwater type trophy fishing the fitter you are the better will be your fishing experience. On some days we can walk up to 5 km's away from the vehicle.

What experience do I need to have?

We cater for beginners right through to experts. Our philosophy is to have fun no matter what your fishing ability and we will choose a location suitable for your fishing ability and requirements.

What do I need to take with me?

We are able to provide rods, reels, lines, tackle and waders if required. The only things considered essential are a hat or cap, dull coloured clothing, insect repellant, sunscreen and camera and a sense of humour. Polaroid glasses are also essential and we have spare CDX glasses if you dont have any. On confirmation of your fishing trip or package, we will provide you with a comprehensive Fishing Information document, should you need it, to ensure you are fully prepared for your adventure.

How do we get there?

We are strategically based in Methven, close to the Canterbury backcountry and the majestic Southern Alps. Methven is approximately an hour from ChCh International Airport. We can provide a map of the Central South Island with the Fishing Information document. For all overnight and extended itineraries we pick you up from either the airport or your accommodation in the Christchurch area.

What experience do the guides have?

Owner and senior guide, Al Kircher, has been fishing and hunting throughout the South New Zealand for over 35 years and has been guiding since 1985. He is also a member of the NZ Professional Hunting Guides Assn, the NZ Professional Fishing Guides Assn, and a recognised Mountain Safety Council Outdoor leader. At times we use other experienced guides to compliment our guiding operation, these guides are selected on their ability to excel and to provide the best possible fishing or hunting experience. All guides have current First Aid Certificates and appropriate licenses as required by Industry Standards.

Where do we fish?

We are able to fish throughout the South Island, depending on the itinerary you have chosen. From the braided rivers and streams of the Central South Island to the bushclad rivers and lakes of the West Coast, from Nelson, and down in to South Westland and Fiordland.
